ROCKER ARM COMPARSISON

Stamped (OEM) Rockers - ~$20

Advantage:  Cheap, No machining required

Disadvantage: Weak, limited to 18 lb springs, high friction, excessive Harmonics at high rpm

Cryo Treated Stamped (OEM) Rockers - ~$35

Advantage: Will withstand slightly higher springs pressures than OEM rockers.

Disadvantage: Cost more than stamped, Will fail over time with high spring pressure

Heat Treated Rockers - <$30 (not sold by NR)

Advantage:  None

Disadvantage: Possibly weaker than stock (you can’t heat treat something that is already heat treated)

Welded Rockers - <$50 (not sold by NR)

Advantage:  Can be slightly stronger than stock.

Disadvantage: Can be weaker than stock due to poor welding. Unless done properly, adds stress to rockers. Heavier than stock. Rockers that have been welded tend to be warped.

Reinforced Rockers - $30 to $80 (NR $79)

Advantage:  Stronger than stock.

Disadvantage: There are many varieties out there. Some work, some do not. Improper welding can warp the rocker. The only ones of any value are those which reinforce the bowl and side rails. Not as strong as billets or Rollers. Very heavy when done correct.  Can be expensive.

Billet Rockers $89

Advantage:  the strongest Rocker Available, less cost than Rollers, No machining required, 1.2 or 1.3 ratios

Disadvantage: higher friction than rollers, Heavy, Some Harmonics at high rpm (due to studs), Shorter Push rods needed

Burris Roller Rockers  $140

Advantage:  Less cost than Full Rollers, Reduced Friction over Billets, Easy adjustment

Disadvantage: No roller tip, Machining  required, Valve cover spacer may be required, Some Harmonics at high rpm (due to studs)

Mountain Machine Rockers  $185 (No Longer Available)

Advantage:  Low Friction Rockers, very Light, Available in several ratios, Large roller tip,

Disadvantage: Valve cover spacer may be required, prone to breakage, Some Harmonics at high rpm (due to studs)

Hunter Roller Rockers  $175

Advantage:  Lowest Friction Rockers, Lightest Rockers available, Available in 1.1 & 1.2 ratios, No Machining needed, large roller tip, Less Harmonics than any other rocker arm (Shaft Mounted)

Disadvantage: Valve cover spacer may be required, Complicated design, Can be difficult to adjust, no 1.3 ratio, Shorter Push rods needed

Race Seng Rockers $195

Advantage:  Lowest Friction Rockers, Very Strong, Available in 1.2 & 1.3 ratio, No Machining needed

Disadvantage: Small Roller tip, Most Expensive rocker, Heavier than hunters, Complicated design, Can be difficult to adjust, Valve cover spacer may be required, Shorter Push rods needed
